Article Summary 1 - The $600 Billion Challenge

Title: The $600 Billion Challenge
Author: Carol J. Loomis
Source: Fortune Magazine (Issue no.9 - July 2010) - pg 44 - 52

The article is about the Bill Gates, Melinda Gates and Warren Buffet's plan - gathering the wealthiest American and lobbying the idea of "pledging to give at least half their net worth to charity during their lifetimes or at death".

So, most of the story, explaining the journey of the gathering process (which involved a few private meetings), who are attending the private meetings, and those billionaires' view.

However, the article doesn't stated the result (sapa yang join, sapa yang tak join). Means it still a secret.

Beside the article, you also could read Warren Buffet's philanthropic pledge (at pg 48 - 49).

The effort is very impressed me. For further information, get the latest 'Fortune' mag.

My Opinion:

Cuba bayangkan.... jika this effort menjadi.... masalah socio-economic akan berkurangan... cuma tak tau the fund tu depa nak salurkan kat mana.... within US ke, international ke.... (currently, Gates Foundation focus on the fights scourges like malaria, rotovirus, and HIV/AIDS).

I believe most of my friends sekarang nie dah diklasifikasikan sebagai orang yang wajib berzakat... tak kire la zakat pendapatan ke or zakat harta....

PPsst....:
Selalu terbaca orang mintak derma utk pembedahan anak-anak kecil... kengkadang amount dia tak besar mana pun... dalam RM20k-RM50k.... Di mana orang-orang kaya Muslim-Malaysia nie? jangan asyik beli kereta mahal baru ("toy")..... or hanya memperjuangkan perkataan 'jihad' or 'wakaf'....

Appreciated your comments. thanks
