Seperti biasa.... kalau aku bagi alasan kenapa aku dah jarang-jarang taip blog nie, korang sure dah boleh agak apa alasannya itu... ya, BUSY.... hehehehe... plus, aku rasa macam nak merajuk dpd taip blog nie.... ingat macam nak tutup terus account blog yang tak berapa active nie....
But.... Perjuangan perlu diteruskan... (Perjuangan apa pun aku tak tahu... hehehehe....)... maybe perjuangan aku dengan persekitaran aku.... :)
Ok.... let's start our english class for today....
tapi aku nak story la macam mana aku bole terfikir nak bangkitkan issue pasal words which never in plural forms nie....
Last few weeks, aku kena gie audit outlet ar-Rahnu (Islamic Pawnbroking). So, kat ar-Rahnu nie seperti yang kita tahu customers akan cagar/pajak depa nye barang kemas (perhiasan emas) or in english we called gold jewellery. Ha.... di sini mulanya isu berbangkit.... sebab bile nak buat Audit Report, sure la kena ade word 'jewellery'.... hehehehe... sebenarnye ade 2 issues yang boleh dibincangkan berkaitan Jewellery nie....
First Issue - Jewellery or Jewelry??
Dua-dua pun betul.....
Jewellery is British English
Jewelry is American English
So, kena la consistent... kalau kita guna British English (which recommended by our school system), kita consistently la guna British English spelling.... If we using American English, so we must consistently use American English spelling.... Susah jadi orang Malaysia nie, sebab both English kita boleh guna... :)
Second Issue - Jewellery in plural forms?
Jewelleries???
Itu yang aku fikirkan.... but diperbetulkan oleh aku nye Senior Manager... dia kata x de dalam dictionary... hehehehehe.... Thanks, boss....
Tapi yang peliknya, bile aku google, ade jugak yang pakai 'jewelleries' nie...
sila click nie: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/jewellery
But finally aku agreed la untuk mempercayai bahawa Jewellery x de in plural form setelah membaca beberapa articles yang lain.... and the best article yang aku rasa sangat menarik:
http://www.businesswritingblog.com/business_writing/2011/01/recognizing-words-with-no-plural-forms.html
So, utk simpanan ingat aku, words yang memang x de in plural forms (yang selalu aku guna jer la)adalah:
furniture
information
knowledge
jewellery
homework
livestock
education
courage
evidence
insurance
ok.... sampai di sini saja nak kongsi..... and jangan lupa to watch 'Oh My English' setiap hari Ahad pukul 10.00 pagi di AstroTVIQ (channel 610) which I find it very useful and helpful! :)'
